Time to go old school :-)

Sam,
Glad to meet you! Some good shots in your Fotothing gallery!
My path to the Bessa R was a bit different: pinhole cameras to medium fromat cameras to FSU(Former Soviet Union)rangefinder cameras to the Bessa. I am using the Bessa with some FSU lenses as wel as some CV lenses and am very happy with the kit I've put together! I hope you'll be as happy with yours as I am with mine!

I got it with the 35mm Color-Skopar lens. I'm hoping that santa will bring me a 50mm Nokton.
Welcome Sam! 🙂 I have that lens too - very contrasty - you'll never need a yellow filter for B&W! 😉

Hi People

I've been floating around on here for a while and have finally taken plunge and bought myself a Bessa R (My 1st rangefinder and my 1st film camera!!!!!). It feels like a real camera (It feels even more stable than my Canon D350) Anyway, I'll post some photo's once figure out how to load the film heehee. My digital work can be found here http://www.fotothing.com/Samdj1210/

Sam,
I, too, have the Bessa R and the CV 35mm Skopar. You will love the results, absolutely great combination. Try out some Ilford XP2 chromagenic (C-41) B&W for quick feedback on your shots ~ ; - )
😀

Hello Sam and welcome.
I've got Bessa&Color Skopar kit and it's really outstanding.
I hope you were good boy this year and Santa knows that 😀

I'm finding that going back into film has also enhanced my digital images, which was initally quite surprising, but on reflection is not. The net effect is that I'm feeling more free with my compositions, rather than getting stuck on the rule of thirds.

So my view is that yes you can have the best of both worlds, digital and film. and you don't have to feel guilty either. I sometimes carry both with me, or just the Bessa, or just the DSLR.

Welcome to a most civilised forum. You will enjoy the erudite discourse, the news and small ads, oh and don't forget to check out the galleries as there are some mouthwatering images to see.
