(just thought I'd pass this on, not my work)

Here's two very interesting blog posts comparing the new Portra 400 with Fuji's 400H (120) and Vision3's 500T (35mm):

Great review. Man this stuff looks cool. No 35mm at B and H, and backordered at Adorama.

Anyone know where you can pick up 35mm rolls of this stuff?

Very nice!
I like your opening sentences. It conveys why we like film without romanticizing it to oblivion 🙂

I think it's funny that this article is comparing the new Portra 400 to a motion picture film stock that maybe five people in the world use for stills. 🙂

It's too bad that rem-jet backing is so hard to remove, because Vision3 is great film and quite cheap by still photography standards!

according to my local photoshop 35 mm is not shipping till february, but 120/220 are in stock most places.

The vision film does look amazing, but nb that mp film is not designed to have any shelf life at all because it's refrigerated before and after it's shot, where as still film needs to keep better to be useful.

Motion picture film has a fine shelf life... It just usually doesn't get to experience it. Fresh stock is shot by Hollywood, and the leftovers are recanned and sold to music video and independent shooters. Either way, it gets run through a camera pretty quickly.

I just got the pictures back from my real-world test of these two films, and for my taste, the Portra just knocked it out of the park. the Fuji looked dull and flat by comparison!

Nice comparison. Incredible what kind of miss-exposure can the film handle (I understand there was no pull or push processing involved)

I would LOVE to see a comparison to Provia 400X (recently my favorite film in 120).
