Hello. I'm new here.

Today I shot my first rolls with quality rangefinders, instead of my toy cameras (lomos).

I used to be an avid SLR fan but the pictures I ended up with blew me away.

I shot a couple rolls with my friends Contax G1 (which I'm definitely buying from him) with a Zeiss 45mm Planar F2, and the Canonet 28 I just bought. Someone beat me on the bidding for the GIII QL17...

In any case. You will all be seeing a lot more of me. I've posted all I'm allowed for the day as far as uploading goes. Check em out! Give me some advice or critiques. Whatevs.

John:

Welcome.

As for your photos either move in closer or choose subjects which are larger or with more going on in different parts of the frame.

Empitness is OK if you want emptiness, but not just because you're photographing something from too far away.

Haha. No it was a fine post. I generally try to stay close to things. When I took the very far away shots I did that on purpose. I don't really like empty space in the frame unless that is what I am implying.

And I plan on posting more photos the more I shoot and scan. I've only had these rangefinders for a few days! Damn jobs, getting in the way.

Once in a while I read a thread where someone had posted some pictures, but I *just can't find them* ... argh!

This is very frustrating especially when others obviously can find it and making comments.

Would you guys please tell me where is this hidden gallery??? I'm relatively new to the forum, but you'd think I'd figure things out by now... 🙁

Near the upper right corner of your browser window, just below where it says "Welcome, shadowfox" there's a menubar item named "Gallery"... Click on that to go to the RFF Gallery area. You may need to log in again there.

Shadowfox: we're in the same boat, I can't find these pictures either. 😕

Thanks Jon, now I get it. I didn´t search by username the first time. Happy New Year!

Second Thanks, Jon!
So you have to *search* a user's gallery in the common gallery eventhough I am reading the said user's postings. Surely there's a way to customize vBulletin to add a custom link on each posting's User info box that automatically do this search. But, I'm not an admin so I'd better keep quiet 😎

Ok, now that I can see the pictures:

I like the abandoned shopping cart and the broken fences. I think these shots are representative of what I like about shooting with RF cameras. Next step, put some people in your shots.

I enjoy the look on my flashy-bazooka-looking, Canon D-SLR toting friends's face when they saw the prints from a indoor gatherings that I took using my Olympus XA. No flash, thank you!

Don't overlook Olympus RF cameras, they are cheaper than Contax G's and just as good. One to look for in particular: Olympus 35 SP (or its other varieties the SPn and the UC)
