Today's camera show heist

I picked up a Canon 7 with 50mm f/1.2 and 135mm f/3.5 lens today at the DFW camera show. The only issue with the body is the 1 second speed is sluggish and the 50mm lens had a small amount of hazing which took 10 minutes to clean. The filter ring is slightly dented but can be easily fixed..

Total cost $200

I plan to have the body CLA'd so can anybody recommend a good repairman who can have it back in my hands within a month or 2?

How did you clean off the haze from the 50? Did you use solvents on it, or just rub it off?

I used ROR and Q-tips. The rear element was the affected glass and is easy to remove..

I went to the Pasadena camera show today and came home with three items...
1. Rubber lens hood 67mm...$2
2. Toyo UV Haze filter 67mm
3. Mamiya 645 Auto-Ext Ring #1 (Like New) #2 & 3...$30

I had a list of things to look for...the lens hood and filter were on it...the extension ring was just a great find...

Yesterday his price was $850 but today he was willing to come down on the price after I pointed out the minor issues and he didn't want to carry it home..

From $850 down to $200...and you know he still made a profit...now imagine how much he paid for it...

I suspect he didn't give more than $50-$75 for it based on watching his buying ways.. He made low ball offers to sellers..

I hadn't planned to buy any cameras but had to do this one..Oh well there weren't any hoods or filters I wanted anyway..

So that's what, at least a 1100% return if he purchased it for $50 and would have sold it for list price? Wow. 😱

Since the haze is internal it requires a partial strip down..

Hi Colyn, might have seen you but didn't know you.
I saw the Canon 7, but I'm not a canonite...

While you got a heist, I won a deal and drag a Viking home 😀

The shutter assembly is in perfect condition, including the focus... I just have to deal with the pinholes on the bellow folds... 😱
