Haven't been in Jack Astor's but Armadillo is so noisy you can barely hear someone beside you.dcsang said:Ok..
How about Armadillo or Jack Astor's on Front St near University. This may be the easiest for everyone.

Hmm..
Ok.. then we need somewhere less noisy but still publy..
We can always trundle back to C'est What - but the lighting in there isn't exactly conducive to viewing or shooting... hmm.. let me mull this over

Re the Duke of Argyle: There's parking. But not sure of the cost on Saturdays. I know Sundays, there are $5 lots off of Pearl and off of Adelaide. (Pearl is an east-west street running from University to John between Adelaide and King.) If I am down there this Saturday, I will check them out. I work on Pearl.
There's also Mirvish parking almost directly across from the pub which is cheap when there is nothing at the theatres, not-so-cheap when there is.
TTC-walkable from St. Andrews subway station, and from the King or Queen cars.

Oh, just found this thread. It's gonna be a good one, but I'm missing this one. Going to leave the city this weekend for 3 weeks of holidays in Ukraine
Cheers,
Eduard.

Hey Dave.. how about the Elephant and Castle.. NW corner of King and Simcoe?
Lotsa light, big windows, big beer selection and food? About a 3 block walk up University from Union Station and one block west of University across from Thompson Hall and next to the Royal Alex. Also the subway stops at King / St Andrew too. Parking in Thompson Hall and other lots nearby.

I'll second that. The Elephant and Castle is a very good pub! And easy walking distance from Union Station. Also appears to have a Superman booth outside for anyone needing to quickly change into a caped crusader.jan normandale said:Hey Dave.. how about the Elephant and Castle.. p.s. Eduard, sorry you won't make this one -- have a great trip!

Elephant and Castle seems good. Do we have a time?
Again, I'm not sure about parking rates on Saturdays, although I suspect they are similar to Sundays. Lots I use on Sundays: There is an aboveground that stretches between Pearl and Adelaide just west of Simcoe (for reference: The Elephant and Castle backs onto Pearl). There is covered parking just east of this one on Adelaide, with a dingy exit onto Pearl. And a large lot on the northwest corner of Adelaide and University which is reasonable on Sundays but very expensive Mondays to Fridays, so who knows what Saturday would be priced like.

Egad, what an ugly thought. For Gene tight is an attribute of focusing fluid, not of clothing. Brrrr. Shudder...Trius said:Are you guys ready for Gene in tights?

I plan to be there, and also Mickey who joined us at the Distillery District last time. He said he'd come to this one too.

See you there. This seemed to be the best date; the thread was quiet for a few days. Elephant & Castle, 1p.m. or so, apparently. Maybe we should post another reminder tomorrow?
