Trade R3M for R2A?

I would just put a CV 28-35mm minifinder on it, and be done with all this viewfinder accuracy stuff. With rangefinders, reasonable close, is about all you can strive for. If you want something more accurate, I suggest a SLR. Rangefinder composition is a different bird than SLR composition

When first getting into rangefinders I too was overly analy compulsive about framing "error". You have to just go with the flow with rangefinders. You may find it makes you a better photographer. It is, undeniable different and not for everyone.

so i think i'll just chill and wait, and re-make the decision after i've had this 3M for a while. I might just get an additional camera (2A or 2M).

Chris,
'Just another thought. . . I just put a 40mm finder on my "T" and it's very nice for framing, parallax issues aside. Maybe you might want to consider a finder, use the rangefinder patch in the camera viewfinder to set your focus and then move up to the external viewfinder for composition. It's a much quicker process than I ever thought it would be. A number of RFF sponsors carry finders. The 40mm versions run around $128.

naw, i messed with some finders while i was at B&H- and i know that isn't the most thorough of testing- but i quickly found that external finders are NOT what i'm looking for or shooting a RF for. If anything, i want something that's quick to focus and frame (at the same time too).
