Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 Lens from Meyer-Optik Gorlitz

The old one or the new one?

The old one is a pretty simple three-lenser and and lens that people either love or hate, because of it's crazy soap-bubble bokeh highlights.
I really don't like it and I have only seen very few photos where the character of the lens has been used effectively and aesthetically.
The old Trioplan 2.8/100 is massively over-hyped and thus extremely expensive.

The new one is based on the old design but much better built and although is also shows the typical bokeh is comes wihtout the other flaws such as low contrast in backlight situations or poor sharpness towards the edges. But since it is completely hand crafted it also is pretty expensive.

A lens by Meyer that I like a lot more is the Primoplan 1.9/75.

Carsten is right... it's become overpriced.
I have the original and it's a nice lens for character.
It's true some have abused that character and now that is what the lens is known for.... can't blame the lens.
The look at wide open is glowing and dreamy... it has a place for portraits which is where I've used it a fair bit.
Here are the few fuji images I have to share online (XT1) plus, one film image. I have posted them before.
First 2 are near MFD. The third is at f4 and mid range. It looks pretty nice. Last is film at W/O.
About the price. Back in '07 or maybe '08 I bought a lot of 5 or 6 of these from an ebay seller for around $200.
Kept the best one for myself and sold the rest for $50- $75 each.
It's stunning to see them at $1500. It's a very simple lens in an alu. tube.
The aperture is beautifully round. It gets sharp like most triplets stopped down and yes, at wide open it's a bit wild.
I like it wide open at longer distances where it has a really dreamy glow especially on film (last shot).
