Hello,

I have just bought a 4/13.5cm Triotar, in the 3214xx range, so delivered at the end of 1947, according to Thiele.
Not very common in LTM version, as far as I know. In fact, it was probably a M42 one originally. But in those days, who knows...

That lens seems coupled, which is surprising. I thought these Triotars were not... It seems it is the metallic piece which couples the lens to the rangefinder.

If some of you have light about these lenses, thanks!

Jacques.

Looking at the eBay lens, I was thinking that it was either an M42 or Exakta mount lens that was modified for LTM.

I don't think that I would want to try to "guess focus" for a 135mm lens unless it was at or near infinity.

Used to have one in Praktina mount, 40mm. It looked identical to this one, except for the different-colored ring at the base, which was missing from that lens.

One thing's for sure, the Praktina mount lens had no RF coupling at all ;) I'd like to read if it focuses correctly on a Leica and how it draws once it arrives, Jacques!

I will tell you as soon as it arrives, Johan!

The seller verified it's a 39mm screw before I buy it. OK. But really I wonder how the coupling works...

Amitiés. Jacques.

I have received the lens this morning.
Very good surprise: the coupling seems made by the factory and it works perfectly on my Leica IIIg. As it seems by the rangefinder! And it is in a near mint condition.

I will try it in a while on this IIIg with a film. But coupling or not, I think this sort of lens is hardly usable on rangefinder cameras. It weighs near 500g and is more than 16cm long... and has no screw for a foot! The limit for a daily use is probably 90mm.

It will be perfect on my red curtain Leica IIIc.

Amitiés. Jacques.
