I have a Franka Solida Jr and was able to dissamble, clean and put it back together. The only problem I think I am having right now is making sure the focus is set proplerly. What I did was adjust the lens exactly at 3.6 ft from target to film plane on camera +-. I checked the image at 3.6 and it appears a very tiny bit out of focus and as I go to ~ infinity the object appears sharper. Is this how it should be or is there another way to do this? Viewing the image on wax paper is a little difficult to get it precise. I read up on how to set the focus ring at Rolandandcaroline.uk and did what they said.. Can you use something else besides scotch tape or wax paper backing to make sure you are achieving a focused image properly?
I also have a Telex rangefinder. I am using this in conjuction with the Franka. The rangefinders seems to be pretty accurate at a short distance but when I start to align the squares at a furthur distance it tends to be less accurate. For example an object about 200ft away would register about 25 - 30 ft on the rangefiner. Is this the characteristic of the rangefinder? What can I do to correct it? I went to one website, but they didn't go into too much detail. I also read that I shouldn't clean the mirrors or orange glass, if they are dirty how do I clean them.
I tested camera and the rangefinder together by dialing in the distance on the rangefinder and then set it on my Franka and the image appeared to be focused. I know the distance the range finder reads to the object may be off, but it appears the distance on the rangefinder and then dialing the distance on the camera seems to work together.
Any help would be appreciated. If you recommend something to buy at a local store I live in the states.
