Turret viewfinder CLA ?

Just got a turret v/f that needs a bit of a clean, straightforward job or any nasty surprises inside to catch out the unwary ?

The big screw on the front is fixed by a very small set screw. Loose both and you can take off the drum with the five lenses. Take care of the small ball bearing that is used for the click when turning the drum.
The back shield turns off when loosing the 3 screws. Inside there are 2 prisms and a metal piece that fit only in one correct position rightly. But you can insert them in different positions 🙂 So take care how they fall out.

Thanks for that, Ulrich. 🙂 Just done a basic clean-up. Removed the "bits" from the screen, also cleaned up the prisms - that made a real difference to brightness, and at the front cleaned off old grease and the detent notches and re-greased. Now clicks positively into place.

I need to find something to clean the tiny recessed lenses now.

Cheers,
Peter

Hello Peter,
fine that it now works better. I use a cotton swab (Q-Tip) with some isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the recessed lenses.
