This week I spent 2-3 days in Toulouse, France.

the weather was pretty gloomy, I took a new Olympus E-M1mk2, I was getting used to the camera at the same time and have some comments on that. Additionally it was the first outing for the Think Tank 5 bag.

Thoughts on the the E-M1mk2 - it's complicated, there's no was to become proficient other than reading the manual, using it, and adding knowledge and experience daily as you get some shots and miss others.

Size, Battery Life and Ergonomics are fantastic. The camera is a pleasure to carry, it was easy and secure to carry in hand with the grip. I quickly figured out how to control the settings that I change and use the most. I'm definately a one lens guy, I brought 3 lenses, used 2, but mostly the 12-40mm/2.8. Usually set to Aperture Priority, most often used ISO, WB (lever 2) and aperture + exposure comp (lever 1) - these map to the 2 control dials and the lever switch

The Think Tank 5 is barely sufficient for the kit, It only held a body and 2 "Pro" lenses and the main compartment was full - this is good and bad. The good is you can take what you need and no more. The bad is that when you are out for a long day on your feet, you need more room for stuff, headphones, sunglasses, hat, snacks. you can't do it with this bag. The bag worked well for what it does and for my habits. in retrospect though, I could take pretty much the same equipment with camera in hand and extra lens in a pocket.

France is pretty nervous about terror attacks, particularly vehicles/trucks - there are barriers in the many pedestrian friendly streets:

There were plenty of people on the streets, this is a period of post New Year's sales
Galleries Lafayette was jam-packed. lots of street performers and cultural activities:

Bikes! I love that so many people are out on bikes, not for fun, but for daily transportation:

This one is a little out of focus but I like the expression

Finally - it wasn't quite as big as DC or NYC, but the Women marched in Toulouse too:
