5cm F2. Zeiss, KMZ, Nikkor, Tanack.[/QUOTE]

Brian I think you still need to add a Topcor and Fuji 50/2. When you get the Skyllaney it would constitute the Tremendous Ten.

An oddball post-WW2 lens, an uncoated 5cm f3.5 Tessar with aluminum barrel and anodized aluminum mount, produced in April 1947. Probably the lightest lens I own, this one is 51gr/1.7 ounces. The post-war 5cm f3.5 "black line" Tessar that was produced around this same time weighs 80g/2.8 ounces, while the pre-war lens constructed of chromed brass weighs 120g/ 4.2 ounces

Kevin Finney 4x5 Pinhole/Zoneplate Field Camera/QUOTE]

That is a beautiful camera. Is it made out of mahogany? I am guessing mahogany, but could be rosewood, too

Thank You! Yes. It is Mahogany.

Finney Pinhole Field Camera
The 4x5 Finney Pinhole Field Camera is compact and lightweight (2.5 lbs., measuring 8x8 inches by 1.75 inches deep when folded) with an extension bellows that extends from 40mm (1.5 in.) to 200mm (8 in.). At the closed position of 40mm, the camera will allow you to photograph extremely wide angle images; as the bellows extends, any desired focal length can be used up to 200mm (telephoto). Made of brass and mahogany with dove-tailed joints, this completely hand-crafted camera is fitted with a Pinhole / Zone Plate Turret with 4 pinholes (focal lengths of 40mm, 75mm, 150mm, 200mm), 3 zone plates (focal lengths of 75mm, 150mm, & 200mm), and 1 viewing pinhole. The 4"x4" Turret is available separately and will fit Zone VI and Wisner Cameras or you can build your own camera around it. Zone plates are used to achieve infrared, soft-focus type images, and expose 7-10 times faster than pinholes with f-stops of approx. 100)
Additional features:
  • Gridded ground glass viewing screen
  • Adjustable for vertical or horizontal images
  • Adjustable extension legs for tabletop use
  • Side scale for measuring bellows extension

I've been tracking these, both are Double-Gauss- the Topcor prices are down. The Fuji - still up there. The Fuji has the same 6/5 6 elements in 5 groups as my Minolta 5cm F1.8.
I have the Sonnars lined up for the Bertele's arrival.

I also have the Canon Serenar 5cm F2- also a double Gauss, the Summitar 5cm F2, and Summar 5cm F2, And the Minolta Chiyoko 5cm F2.

The Topcor 50 f2 is a great lens, used to be one of my favorites for vacations. I have not used my Fuji enough to be able to characterize it, except to say that it is a beauty

Yours, Mine, and David Douglas Duncan's Nikkor 5cm F1.5 are all from the same batch.

I picked up a First Edition "This is War" to go with the lenses. Incredible Photography. (but this one is a reprint)

Awesome! Agreed, it's a great look-through -- all of but one shot were made with the 1.5 I believe.

Nickel Sonnar f2.jpeg

Not all that rare but it's what I'm shooting with today!

If anyone has their Thiele text nearby and is willing to share production info of this Nickel Sonnar f2 lens, I'd greatly appreciate it! I've been meaning to order copies of my own but haven't gotten to it... Serial # 1730743.

Part of a batch of 2000 lenses completed Sept 17, 1935

How neat! Are ours uncommon just because of age or were they produced in fairly low numbers?

Low numbers because it was a transitional lens. Either because Zeiss was using up the remaining nickel plated parts or because they wanted lenses which matched both black and silver Contaxes.

Edit: By the way both the leather-lens cap and the black bakelite and metal rim lens cap in Brians picture (if that's what it is) is also uncommon and sought after by collectors.
