Used X 100 prices

Hi all,

I'm selling my X 100 and getting a second X Pro body.

The X100 has seen very little use but does have some marks and scuffs from sitting in my camera bag for a couple of years. Its being sold with all original items including documents and boxes plus two extra batteries, a thumb grip and lens hood.

My question is; would you accept a buy it now price of £250? Its for sale on the UK version of that auction site under the same user name I have here if anyone wants to take a look.

I'm keeping an eye on others being sold but most don't have the scuffs mine does or are the swanky S version.

Any thoughts or knowledge of current prices would be greatly received.

Thats about $400? Very good price. Most "user" grade x100 cameras in the states are going between $500-$650 on Ebay.

I agree with L Collins, that sounds like a very good price. Even if it has scuff marks, as long as they are documented well and don't get in the way of the use of the camera, it's still a good price.

I've priced the used ones here in the US and they tend to run from $500-700 USD or so depending on condition. I did notice that shortly after the last firmware came out, they went up a little in price too.

If I was in the UK and looking for a x100, I'd easily pay what you are asking.

The cheapest one sold in the EU recently was €391 so £250 is nowhere near the mark. A pity I'm broke or I'd have offered you £275 in a flash!
By the way it took me a while to find yours (had to temporarily change my i.p. address from France to UK) Why don't you edit the listing to include sales to Europe? - you'd suddenly have many more potential customers.

Just to clarify. I've set it up on an auction basis and someone has offered me £250 for it. I'd hoped to clear £300 so perhaps I already have my answer?!

After a bad selling experience once before I may now overplay any flaws or faults and perhaps I'm undervaluing it a bit now?

Average eBay price in Germany is 498€ for the moment!

Make sure you note the build date/first 2 digits of your serial number in the auction and be open about possible instances of Sticky Aperture Blades. An X100 with no SAB problems should easily sell for over £400.

Its a 12 series thats never had the sticky issue but from what I've heard thats no guarantee that a body won't develop an issue out of the blue. Not sure what the truth is there?

That's a bit of an ouch.
My 12 series developed SAB a month ago, after 2.5 years. It was fixed free of charge by Fuji Germany, though.

SAB is no issue if Fuji will fix it out of warranty. It is a known issue.

SAB was fixed for free out of warranty. 250 GBP or 400 USD is a pretty darn good price for it. you can raise it a bit.

Update: It sold this afternoon for £370 ($600) so I'm very happy with that price if that is the average for a body that hasn't the scuffs and marks mine has. More importantly its essentially a swap, a camera I don't use for a new lens that I will.

That seems a fair price for buyer and seller.

On the local sites here in Ireland they are advertised for asking prices of €500 to €600, depending on condition. They seem to sell for around €450 or lower though, which would tie in with your price.

Update: The X100 has come home.

The buyer contacted me to say that the batteries didn't work, the charger didn't work and the scuffs weren't adequately photographed.

The batteries all work fine, as does the charger. As for the photographs not adequately showing the detail of the scuffs I'd have to disagree but there's very little point arguing so a refund and return was the outcome.

I don't think I can be bothered to go through the arbitrary nature of selling it on there again. It's pure luck as to whether you get a buyer or a loaner, someone who reads every word of the auction of just sees the title and gambles. So it looks like I'll keep it as a little pocket back up.
