Used X-Pro1 arrived

I took a chance on a 9+ X-Pro1 from B&H for silly cheap money - it arrived today. My sale priced 35/2 WR showed up last week, so I figured it was time to get a body. What I received is indistinguishable from new, and it only shows 182 exposures on the clock assuming nothing was reset.

My first impressions are very favorable. I already have an X100s, the experience is similar but with a larger body which I prefer.

I'm trying to make sense of the various OVF focus options. I prefer back button AF on all my Nikons so thought I would like using the MF mode and one shot AF back button method. However, I'm not seeing a way to implement corrected AF brackets in the OVF when in MF mode - they do work fine in AF mode. Does anyone know if this is possible? The brightline is moving fine, just not the AF brackets.

Correct me if I misunderstood. When you're in MF mode you need to be in EVF mode if you want to focus the camera using the MF assist. When you're in MF and OVF you can zone focus with no problem of course but the camera will not be using any of the AF assists to help you with the AF brackets since it isn't doing AF.

The focus region box should move in the OVF when the frame moves.

Check to see if you are accidentally in Macro mode.

I assume the focus region box and frame lines move together when you use your X100S on OVF mode. If so, I would cross-check the menu settings for the two cameras.

I would also make sure the X-Pro 1 and lens has the most recent firmware.

I would not hesitate to do a global reset.

Okay. I just tested mine which has the latest firmware.
On MF and using the OVF I get frame line correction when I depress the shutter release button. No AF correction lines. When I depress the back focus button I get no frame line correction or AF correction lines and no AF confirmation. I do get AF though.

No, the focus box is stationary in manual focus mode with the XP1. At least it is when only the center autofocus point is used which is the only focus point I ever use. The center focus point is always at the center of the viewfinder. Apparently it's because you are in manual focus mode so auto focus doesn't come into play. Except when it does by using the AF-L button. The frame guide lines move only when the shutter button is pressed halfway. It's kinda confusing, huh?

I've always used back button focus but the XP1 is a different sort of system for this operation. The process of using it is one of only negative features I've found in the camera--the other being no adjustable diopter. I occasionally use the XP1 back button focus mode but mostly I've started using the AF-L button as a switch. I just focus with the shutter release and hit the AF-L button to hold the focus and press again to go back into auto focus mode. Again, kind of a fiddly operational system but I've gotten used to it.

Yup, that is one of the things changed on the XP2. It moves as focus is adjusted.

After having this on the XP2 I wish it didn't have it. The control doesn't lock and it is often knocked out of place resulting in fuzzy EVF and overlays.

I'm not trying to use MF assist - I'm using the back button to initiate a single AF action. The camera is performing AF on demand but is not showing me where the AF is looking.

Both the framelines and AF box move correctly in the OVF when I'm in AF mode, but only the framelines move when I'm in MF mode using back button focus. I can see why the Fuji designers would have done this, because I'll bet they never considered people using back button AF as a primary mode of focus.

Ok, I can work with this. Instead of MF with back button AF on demand I'll use AF with the back button as a focus lock and keep AE lock on the shutter button - just like I do with my X100s.
