As for Mac, I'm not an artist. I learn, try things like programming, VM and network administration. And more. Mac is useless platform for it. I quit from it long time ago since I was Mac dealer. Nothing changed since then, same limited functionality, apps. I see it at work. We have Macs to limit troubles with end users. But anything advanced is Windows or UNIX based.

Odd statement as all of that is available on a Mac. And any mac running an OS from the last 13 years is certified as Unix by the Open Group.

Years ago when learning PS I was told (instructed) JPEG are not a good idea for storage because eache time you open and close it there is a degradation of image quality which after a few times could be visible.

I'm not an expert but suggest you to verify. Just a suggestion from my side 🙂

Opening and closing by itself doesn't impact image quality. Each time you destructively edit it and save over the original file would reduce image quality though. But that is true with any destructive editing no matter if it is JPEG or Tiff.

That is why non-destructive editing is used by apps like Lightroom. It keeps your source file (JPEG, Tiff or RAW) and as you adjust the sliders it just applies those settings to the original source file and displays the changes. Those changes aren't really ever baked into the original source image. When you export an image it creates a new file based on the original source file with your changes applied to that and saved as the exported file. The original stays original.

Not to be pedantic, but you do realise that the Mac is fundamentally a UNIX platform with a fancy GUI? FWIW, I use a Mac for pretty much everything, including programming both Mac and Windows software (the latter via a VM).

You do not need to buy the most expensive, and you do not need to change computers that frequently. Just buy a computer that runs the software that you need. These days, year-on-year advances in CPU, graphics and memory are much smaller than in the past.

I don’t want to go all of details why I see Mac as nothing practical. Almost every application I use is more easy to find, deal under Windows. My job computer, apps are Windows based. I’m working regularly now on-call and my home computer must be Windows based as well. Our IT would send me to a Coventry if I declare to use Mac at home🙂

Went to Downtown Camera to develop c41 film taken by m4-2, but forgot they closed at six:
Walked over the corner and checked x100v.
Very competitive pricing, much better build it seems comparing to previous ones.
I was trying to use it. Screen and VF letters were too small. Camera was keep on focusing somewhere in the corner, magnifying corner was not showing anything useful.
Same was the salesman, who ordered this camera for himself. I wasn’t able to find any logic in
menus.
Week before I was shown x-pro3 by real user. I could see same letters better with xpro3.
But. I was walking, taking pictures with M-E and many were looking at it. No way M is discreet. I’m not concerned about myself, but I just don’t want people looking on camera, no, reacting on it. Several people were looking at me like I’m something special, one asked if it is Leica. Even sales guy at Henry’s asked if it was m6.
They had GRIII on less noticeable spot. Amazing how close it is in size with my e-pl1.
Which is next to ideal street camera, I hold it in my palm, strapped by Gordy’s z (dropped it already) and then I feel the urge I just raise it to direction I need.
With M it doesn’t work this way, I must stop and frame it.
Different styles, but I like outcome from both.
R6 is about to show up at the end of this year. But here is no suitable lens for it.
35 1.8 R is as big as 50 1.2 EF. They better to release 40 2.8 pancake in R mount.
I’m at home with EOS menus and focus handling.

The X100f/v has an option for larger screen and VF icons. Someone probably moved the AF point up to the corner. The joystick will move the AF point.

GRIII is a great little camera. For a very discrete strap take a piece of thin paracord and tie it from top lug to bottom lug. Put two fingers through that and it is very secure in your hand and takes up almost no additional space so it will fit in a shirt pocket easily.

I was moving this square to the center by joystick, but it was keep on returning to the corner.
Does Fuji have utility to disable 90% of in camera menus? Even xpro3 owner and long time user of x100 I meet week or so ago has to fight the menus.

Fuji menus are extensive but also pretty easy once you understand what you can control on the camera. You mostly don't need to go into them once it is setup. Even reprograming buttons doesn't need to go into the menus, just press them and hold them down and it will bring up a list of possible options including turning the button off.

You can't disable the menu options but you can setup the Quick Menu to have whatever you want in it, same with the My Menu option. You also have a huge amount of options for what the screen displays and that is configurable for the OVF and EVF/LCD separately.

Update: I entered bus to home. Another New Canadian looked at my camera and asked if it was from Russia. My M-E is from Russia. He still has FED from USSR time...


Some from today, I used manual only settings as it was suggested in another thread. In last one, I forgot to dial it back from shadows. 🙂

Compared to Fuji sales guy at another place around the corner, he knows.
He showed me Q-P. And answered almost all of my questions. Comparing to my frustration with X100V earlier on, Q is way better camera, easy to understand and use. EVF is not making me motion sick, but I feel something in my right eye after it.
Then I handled m240. Its red things in VF are so Volkswagen. Can’t imagine my self stick with it for long time. And then m10. Very small for its money 🙂 And framelines were dull...
Q had best 35mm framelines out of all three 🙂 With Q set to 35mm I wouldn’t need to compress dng files. But more I use M-E more I enjoy Leica SOOC JPEG1.

I like the Q a lot... But Ko.Fe., the Q outputs UNcompressed DNG files. I run them through Adobe DNG Converter to compress them later. And setting the framelines to 35mm still gives you a full-frame DNG. 🙂 Lightroom will recognize the requested framing and display the cropped frame. But you can choose to see the whole thing.
Average filesize 43.76Gb out of the camera, 27.95 Gb after non-lossy compression. This is the original Q, not the new Q2.

They only have demos. Q-P is demo and looks used.

Considering it is fast, wide lens and camera, Q is the best used Leica deal on the market, it seems, not M240. Even cropper CL with slow and primitive 18mm 2.8 is more expensive.
