I will occasionally use the Canon FL 19mm/3.5 and the Canon FD 20mm/2.8 on my Canon P or Bessa 4a, using Canon adapter B.
Fun to play around with these old lenses.

Yep ... but I use them on SLRs, so don't feel qualified to comment![]()
Hi John,
I did not want to imply that people must use wide angle lenses on RF cameras. I just wondered who did.

I got into trouble when I discovered that I had a Minolta-Leiac adapter, Mark. This led to me buyinga Rokkor lens.

Benjamin,
Do you have an adapter Nikkor-Leica ?
Nope, not at the moment.
I really quite want one, though it seems silly to buy one from eBay. I'm just on the look out for someone who has one that they have tired of, or have no use for. Hence my signature..

I would LOVE to use my 21mm Zuiko on my M, but I cannot seem to find the appropriate adapter.

I would like to put my 16mm MC Minolta fisheye on my Leicas. That would be great fun. My 21mm f2.8 MC is also an incredible lens, but a bit big for an RF, especially with the giant original hood for it.

I have used my Canon 7.5mm fisheye lens on the M6 and on a Canon P. It makes sense to make use of existent SLR wide angle lenses on RF cameras.

I guess I'd rather read about it than actually do it. About the only really wide angle SLR lens that I own is a 20mm Nikkor that I bought in the 1980s. Very nice lens, and I use it only with the Nikon bodies.
I've been messing around with the 21mm Biogon for the Contax. Now, that is a lens.

Is there a Nikon-Leica adapter on the market? That would be useful to have.

I occasionally use the old Canon 17/4 FD on my RF's (using the adapter B).
Fun, but I've mostly stopped now that I have the VC 21/4, since it's smaller, and I have the nice viewfinder (no more guessing).

I saw one on Ebay-some months ago, I think it was around UK £50, but as I mentioned earlier, I usually make my own stuff like that.Is there a Nikon-Leica adapter on the market? That would be useful to have.

Dave,
How would you go about making such an adapter?
I don't need one since my only Nikkor wide angle lens is a 24mm/2.8.

Raid,
I'm longing to use my Nikon F lenses on my S3-2000. Have yet to find an adapter......
I sold my CV 15/4.5 LTM last year and would love to get an F mount version and be able to use it on my RFs too.

Bill,
Does the CV F-S adapter work ? (http://www.cameraquest.com/VCSL1215.htm)
Also, one of the usual suspects (Amedeo?) can probably build it for you, like this:

Your post has renewed my interest in doing this.
I have adapters for both Canon FL mount lenses and M42 lenses so they will mount on LTM bodies. I do like FL mount lenses very much - they are traditionally built lenses of high optical and physical build quality. I do not own the 19mm lens although I have been tempted to bid on one or two from time to time. The widest Canon lens I own is the 28mm f3.5 and the 35mm f2.5 both in FL mount and both of which look very nice in terms of build and which can be bought very cheaply (I presume because in general Canon lenses can not be used on any digital bodies and focus properly at infinity. The latest G series micro4/3 cameras being the only real exception apart of course from an M8) The 35mm in particular looks very nice indeed mounted on a canon or Leica rangefinder with a turret finder on top.
I do own a quite nicely made 21mm in M42 mount. And Raid I think it may be an Asanuma (its certainly one of these brands from the 1960s) so possibly its the same as yours. I need to dig it out and have a look. When I have used this on my Panasonic L1 (4/3 mount digital) its performance was surprisingly not too bad at all. So I would be very interested in seeing pictures from yours.

Chris,
Doesn't Steven sell that adapter? I remember it being about as expensive as a Zuiko 21/3.5 though not nearly as much as the 21/2, of course. If you have other Zuiko wides, the cost can be spread, though the focusing hassle might make it less than desirable.

Here are my three Leicas. In the back, you can see my new black M4-2, with the Canon FL 19mm F3.5 attached. As you can see, it is very compact. I sold off my 21mm F4 CV, and I don't miss it at all! The Canon build-quality is awesome, and the lens is every bit as good as the Leitz 21mm F3.5 Schneider Super Angulon, maybe better. At less than half the price of the SA, it is still a great bargain. GoKevin has the Canon RF rangefinder version for $1800US, but this lens is optically identical to the rangefinder version.
