Beginning of Juli I leave for a holiday in Italy. So I would really like an wide angle lens for my camera since my widest is now the 28/2.8 (37 on m8).
I was alway's leaning towards the leica 18mm, but out of finance (or the lack of it) the zeiss 18 is also a good option. I really like my 28 biogon so know what to expect from a zeiss WA.
I know the zeiss needs to be coded when using it on the m8/ m9. But this will mean I don't have any warranty left. Since I already had an 50 planar returned (soft, and no good focus) I'm not really happy with this.
Having read that the uncoded lens isn't any problem when shooting in B/W.
My idea is, since I use B/W almost all the time, to buy the zeiss and use it only in B/W for half a year and, when I don't have any problems after that half year, have it coded.
Is this correct thinking? Is the zeiss really usable in B/W?. I will shoot RAW files so the B/W conversion will be afterwards on the pc. Will there also be a lack of contract or is it just the colors?
Does anybody have a picture of a photo shot with an uncoded zeiss ZM 18?
Thanks!
