vc meter II....repairable?

My meter fell into some salt water at the beach. I completely disassembled it, rinsed it with fresh water, dried it out, carefully inspected all of the soldering points, polished the electrical contacts, etc. When I put (fresh) batteries in, all three lights (2 red, 1 green) light up brightly, and stay lit. I know electronics and salt water don't mix, but might there be any hope at all for it...some sort of chant or invocation I could perform maybe? 🙂

There may be hope. Send me a crisp $50 bill and while sealing the envelope repeat "I hope this works...I hope this works...I hope this works". lol

It sounds like you may have gotten lucky if it is responding normally. I guess all you can do is check it out over the next few days. Do you have another meter to check it against? How about a gray card?

Well, my problem is that the little lights are only supposed to turn on when I press the little orange button...my lights are on, bright, all the time. I guess this meter is cooked. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Let it dry better... leave it disassembled over a few days... also you should only have used distilled water or alcohol to clean the circuit board.

I can easily see how you dropped it, this thing is tiny. Anyone find a good way to attach a lanyard to it?

You may be buggered Steve. My mobile phone survived two immersions in river water (one of them for 15 minutes) but a dip in the sea killed it good and proper.
