Has anyone ever seen any vented step up adaptors?

I've got a Nikon 77mm CPL-II from my dslr days and started thinking about using it on my R3A. I'd need a 39 or 43 - 77 step up adaptor, but all of the adaptors I've seen and have are solid. It strikes me, if the adaptors were vented like the hoods are, you could peek through a corner of the CPL through the RF and adjust the CPL properly.

I might attempt machining out vents in an adaptor, but was wondering if you can get them anyway.

I 'vented' adapter rings for system filters with a Dremel, in order to be able to see the settings on LF lenses. The same should be feasible for your purposes.

No, I've never seen 'em commercially, I suspect for the good reason that you can't tell where a screw-in filter or adapter will stop, so they have to be custom-made. Also, they could invite flare if the sun is over your shoulder (in through the vent, off the filter, into the lens).

Cheers,

R.

I think this might do the trick:

and then click on FilterView.

However, Roger is correct, depending on the light, you can get some unexpected problems with flaring, but for the most part it works very well.

hmm good point about the light.

That filter view thing is pretty much what I had in mind, thanks.
