Ihave just taken this Rank aldis out for a test and when I focus on close or relatively close subjects the everything seems to be fine. However, when I focus for example on the horizon the the vertical alignment seems to be slightly out. AS this is my first ever use of a ranngefinder is this common or a problem and if so how can I adjust it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I take no responsibility if you damage your camera.

Vertical alignment is behind the screw on the front above the lens mount. Remove it and there is the adjustment screw inside. Later models have an adhesive dot which you will destroy if you remove it. Furthermore it requires a special tool you can not improvise
Some have made them, but it is not easy. The tool cost $200 + last time it was discussed.

If you have a late model, send it out. M2,3,4 and perhaps M4-2 you can do yourself.
I have not looked at my M4-2 is a while.

Micro Tools.com sells good screwdrivers. Don`t butcher the camera with 8 for $3.00 set from the local flea market.
