The Olympus OM-1, The "On-Off thing",for the Lightmeter would never survive a war.
Be manly Hungarian like Robert Capa and guess at your exposure.

Really? I took my OM-2n to Iraq and it did just fine.

i think we should put a concerted effort into breaking the cycle of glorifying war photographers. they are all brave people no doubt but too many young folks with cameras think it is a path to glory.

I think there is much good sense in that view.

Got me a black OM-1 coming, if Goodwill ever gets off their duffs and chuck it in the mail.

A wonderful growing family. It seems you have the right approach. Find a bargain and if need be, invest prudently to make her serviceable.
Most excellent kit, what ever you call her.

Sharing great deals are nothing but good people setting the challenge bar a few centimeters higher!

How can you call it a Korean lens when Japan is clearly stamped on it?
JK. I love your OM. I might name my black Canon AV-1

I forgot to mention it was $6.95 with $10 shipping. Even if the meter is dead, it's worth it.

The camera's just that. Paint wear & all. It has no effect on history.
BUT!
There's quite a bit of sensitivity about VN.
When you think about the 500,000 men and women who served and then
consider that in the 2000 US census there were over 3,000,000 that claimed to have served there.
We call 'em posers. And worse.

Thanks, yes I was sure that if I held out long enough I'd find someone selling an Olympus body with a nice lens attached 'thrown in' on the deal.
I plan to acquire my other lenses the same way. You can normally tell because they say things like ''...the lense (sic) says 1:1,2 zuiko on it''
