my new toy arrived this afternoon,
the shutter was a bit slow to react at first, after a few dry-fire it came back better
it is sure a great example of German camera engineering,
great shape and make, the extraordinary handling is such fun
...until, i didn't know how, the shutter stop opening!

i notice that the counter stop advance,
even when i press the combi-plunger to the bottom,
i have a feeling that the plunger did not 'catch' the clocking mech
(the shutter release can be pressed down but the shutter did not fire)

AND the film spool can move back and fore freely,
that couldn't be right in Advance mode (otherwise you don't need the Rewind button, right?)
could it be stuck at Rewind mode...or what?

i've checked the instruction manual,
it just said press the rewind button and then rewind the film
there's no mention of any other action after rewinding the film.
did i miss a certain trick to release the camera from Rewind mode?

i have played with the self timer (V), the lever is a bit rusty and it is slooooow
but i believe it had completed travelling finally and i have set the V/X/M lever back to M position.

You'll probably want to keep he V/X/M lever on X if you are going to use electronic flash, M is for focal plane bulbs. This lever is for setting the flash sync and of course, the V for self timer.

thanks Tony. i always confusing the M & X. now i have a better understanding. i set to M just because it is the further distance from V, which a lot of people had said to avoid touching on a vintage camera.

anyway. any idea on the "de-Rewind" issue?

When you finish a roll and want to take the film out of the camera you press the rewind button and rewind the entire film until there is no more resistance from the film in the camera. Pop open the back and take the roll of film out. On most cameras when you close the camera back the rewind button will reset automatically. If your camera doesn't reset it will when you cock the shutter as if to advance the film.
