As there's been a great deal of recent discussion about the CV lenses, I though that I'd contribute by mentioning that I've just begun to experiment with a CV 15mm. As many others have said, it is an excellent lens, and certainly represents great value.

I have very little experience with wide angle lenses, but the shot linked below, which was taken today in NYC, will give you a feel for the capability of this lens in an urban setting. I used no filter, and did some light processing in Lightroom.

Great colors Tony! What preset are you using in LR? Where did you get your lens? I am in NYC too. Thanks.
 
Thanks Steve. I have to confess that I have yet to use presets in Lightroom. I simply process each photo individually to taste. I fully appreciate that it would make sense to create presets, but I haven't done it yet.

I'm new to rangefinders, so I'm really still at the stage where I am familiarizing myself with the M8 in combination with the five lenses I have acquired. I know that I will need to refine and should, to an extent, automate the processing stage, and that's next on the agenda.

I bought the lens from someone who wasn't comfortable with her M8, so she sold all of her related equipment.

Looks like the M8 has found a great new home. Wonderful shot. I was worried that the M8 would make the 15mm less of a great lense for that sort of shot, but it rocks.

Well done.

Where where you that you could see so much sky?

I often wind up with a finger in my 15mm shots! hehe

Just a total bargain, this little lens.

Here's one I took with mine in the Time Warner Center (2 exposures put together and straightened in CS2) . . .

Great shot and stitching. I guess I will sell my panoramic cameras and just stitch with digital. Film is fun but scanning is not.

If you mean my shot of Time Warner I just did two exposures one for inside the window one for outside and merged the two, it's not a pano, it's just the FOV of this lens on the M8 (a little less after lens correction).
 
Oh, I thought that you stitched two frames in order to get rid of the convergence. Now that I think about it, yes the exposure seems too perfect. It makes sense.
 
Did you have problem with registration when doing the merge of the two exposures? I guess you did not use a tripod.

Thank you. Always good to have your camera along. This was from an afternoon drive through the local countryside with a quick picture stop at a hay field that appeared to have just the "right" geometry and cloud formations in the sky.

No. No IR filter, no coding, just a regular CV 15 (I got it used at B&H) with a CV LTM>M adapter on an M8.
 
Not the best image to show the lens off, because of the high ISO. But it gives you a sense of the reach in a sidewalk shot.

The Lightroom preset for 'old photo' seemed just right for this shot. Just got the lens and looking forward to using it more.

Great shot of the Rumba Cafe KEH - been there many times over the past few years.

In any case, does anyone know a preset in lightroom, for the CV15mm, to fix any distortion?

From Rockwell, "-0.25 in Photoshop's Lens Distortion Filter when shot at 4 feet (1.5m)." I'm not sure that's worth bothering over...
