Voigtlander 21/4 Color-Skopar Photos

21mm lenses do have some weird portrait potential hidden in them :)

Rodeo in Sancti Spiritus Cuba. I love the Cuban concept that if you want to photograph a rodeo standing out in the arena, it is your a** at risk and not their problem.

Special police on the Prado in downtown Havana. Regular police are not too intelligent, corrupt, lazy, yahoos from out in the country. However the Special police are very different, always have spotless black uniforms, and almost always have a dog to work with. You are not supposed to photograph police but this guy allowed me a shot before he waved me off.

I just picked up one of these little guys for use on my M240, I really enjoy it and the center image quality is excellent, but the borders of the frame... well, they're downright blurry, right out to f/16. Is this normal for this lens on digital? I can deal with the red edges, but complete lack of detail outside the center of the frame is a little problematic unless you compose to only have what's important in the middle.

It does not work well on digital. It's designed for film cameras.
Its rear nodal point is too close to the sensor, which causes the blurry edges and colour shifts.

Decentering?

Decentering?

anyone have a copy with unequal resolution on either side? I love the size of this lens, but my copy is clearly better on right side vs. left and it drives me crazy. My 21mm Biogon was purchased to find a better lens, and it clearly is with respect to my copy.

I'm tempted to order another to see if this decentering can be selected out. I guess quality control with affordable lenses is a gotcha...

Lots of cool stuff on this thread. I love this lens, and I need to use it more. I', always astounded by the resolution. Great little gem.

Here's my most recent shot with it. Leica M4-P and Fuji Provia 100f.

Beautiful image!

What shutter speed were you using? Cannot have been much considering the iso100 and f4 constraints!

Thanks for the compliment!

I didn't record the shutter speed, but the room was lit with a bright florescent, so I would assume somewhere around a 30th or a 15th.
