Voigtlander 28mm SLII pancake for SLRs!

Was on dcwatchimpress just before, saw this from the recent trade show in Japan.

So pictured for EOS and F, and it's a f2.8 color-skopar aspherical. Should be optically great!

This makes for a very convincing argument of 20mm, 28mm, 40mm, 75mm setup of SL lenses for DSLRs! Does anyone else have more details of this specific lens?
 
the one on the right has no aperture control?

considerably smaller, but the one on the left seems like the nikon one. oh well, it'll be a while before i've got enough scratch to replace the 35 2 AF i just got rid of...

a bit disappointed with 40/2, the color cast is cool, focus is pain, mainly rely on the confirmation dot, which at times are off few cm. In any case, they are nice to look at but take time to enjoy the particulars.

Aperture controlled on camera I'm guessing, like the 40mm for EOS mount...

Get a better focussing screen. The ee-s for 5d works well, the voigtlander 40mm focus pops well...
 
Despite all my M-mount 28s, this one really tempts me to get a FE and start shooting with it.

Any insights/speculations on the formula? CV is surely lacking a slower/ smaller 28 for their VM lineup after they stopped making the 28/3.5.
 
Sweet. I love the 40mm on my FM. A 28 would be perfect as I find the 20mm SL a bit too wide for most situations. I think the Voigt SL lenses really are teriffic. I seem to remember seeing that they were to release a 75mm f1.8 based on the similar M mount lens. Never seen the 75mm F mount for sale though.
 
Gurgel translates a notice from the polish site optyzne.pl as follow: " Designed for use with full frame model Skopar Voigtlander Color-28mm f/2.8 SL II is only 2.5 centimeters high. It will be composed of 7 elements in 6 groups. Inside you will find an aperture with nine diaphragm blades, which can be closed down to f/22 value" and there will be also a new Voigtländer Heliar Classic 75/1.8 SL II N http://www.thephoblographer.com/2012/02/13/cosina-announces-new-sl-ii-n-lenses-on-cp/
 
This is a side question, and I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I am thinking about getting a ff dslr--most likely a 5dmkii or a d700 (i'm not invested in either system as of yet).

Anyway, I dig these pancake lenses, and have been checking them out for a while now.

My question is, and I realize this is subjective, what camera do you like better for these lenses--d700 or 5dmkii?

I prefer the 5d's, but the d700 is good too. The 5d has more standard focussing screen options straight off and that gives it an advantage.

I really wish cosina would post a release date for this lens...

I have a D700 and although it's a superb camera it's rather heavy, which means (to me at least) that a pancake lens is not going to give you a compact agile camera much different to an ordinary sized prime.

On the other hand, small lenses are great on a Leica M6 or a small SLR.
 
Either of you guys using split prism focusing screens?--or have any experience with them--I'm not sure if they are an option with the 5dmkii (which I am actually leaning towards because of the IQ advantage and lighter weight). I suppose I am concerned about focusing ease--going by things like my nikon fe2 (has split prism) and yashica-mat (which does not have a split-prism, and takes a while to get in focus). I really only use rangefinder focusing systems.

Anyway, I am interested in anything you have to say about the 40mm pancake or 20mm pancake (i would more than likely go with the 40 and 28 combo if the 28 comes out soon).

Seconded. I use the 40mm as my standard lens when I use the FM/FE. I'd buy the 28mm immediately. Would also work great on the Sony NEX.
