I saw so many nice pics in this thread. Truly amazing.
In about 2 weeks I will get my one and can't wait to try it out.
Will take at least another 2 weeks till I can see some first results and can develop and scan the film...
Looking forward.

I have a copy of the LTM version in which the square optional lens hood is basically stuck on. Something happened with the threads and I can spin it endlessly without it coming loose. Most of the time i am fine with that, but it does mean it takes up more space in transit Any suggestions for a DIY fix?

I bought a CV 2.5/35 PII almost entirely due to spending far too much time lurking in this thread. So, I thought it only fitting that I come back to post some shots from my first roll.
Man, this thing is sharp. And those colours. After one roll it's stacking up *quite* admirably against my Contax 2/45G.. which is really saying something.
All on Portra 160, Leica M4-2.

What I like about this lens ...
What I like about this lens ...
... is that it doesn't seem, to my eyes at least, to impose any very particular effect on the image. To me it always looks clean and neutral, and I don't mind the contrast for black and white, even on sunny days.
These tiny files won't show it (I don't know how to upload anything bigger than 500 x 500) but the out of focus areas are pretty smooth, the detail is high and there's not a lot of distortion. Not to mention that it's tiny, weighs nothing, and handles very nicely. I prefer its handling to just about any other lens I own, including Leica and Zeiss, all of which cost more --- sometimes a lot more.
All images TMax 100, Xtol 1:1, M6, CV 35/2.5 PII.

To include a bigger picture, you can copy the bbcode image address from a hosting site like flickr, or if the photo is in the RFF Gallery, copy the image address and paste it into the dialog box that appears when you click on the yellow "picture" icon in the message tools.
Edit: if linking from the RFF Gallery, there's a Gallery file size limit of 400kb. Changing the image quality/compression can bring a larger pixel size image under the 400kb limit.
BTW there's an informal Sydney RFF meet tomorrow, I'll send you a PM.

I just got this lens. For those of you that use it with a digital Leica (mine is M 240) - do you set the lens detection to one of the Leica 35mm options? Or just leave it off?

I code it as a pre-asph Summicron. I remember seeing some purple in the corners if I didn't. But try - your sample might be different.

Thanks for your input. I will try it both ways, but good to know what others are doing for reference.

Late answer but...those lens hoods should have a little set screw which tightens the hood against the lens filter ring area. You need to snug it a little bit so the hood does not spin freely. Then you can unscrew the hood from the lens.

Initially I thought I'd just have this lens until I could stomach the financial hit for a summicron, but ten rolls deep I'm thinking it's here to stay.
