These remind me of my 35mm Nokton though the oof areas aren't quite as clinical as the 35mm IMO.

Keith I would guess you are talking about f1.4 Nokton, right?
... and if so, I would agree.


The oof this new 40/1.2 is pretty exceptional just from what I’m seeing on a digital interface.

Mike that first pic of the different tree leaves (maple?) with pond in back is phenomenal.
It really brings out the oof qualities of the lens at different distances .... well done.

And if you are entertaining requests, I’m dying to see some BW shots

The daylight bokeh shots are great and all, but what's the lens like for shooting at night? How's the coma at f1.2? I would love to see what this lens does wide open at night (particularly scenes with neon lights) at (or near) infinity.

Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 Nokton Appreciation Thread

Hey all, the new 40mm Nokton is a dream. In m-mount, it's very compact, light and creates lovely images. At 1.2 it is sharp (so long as the image is in focus), but not quite as bitingly sharp as some other modern lenses (the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 zm for example). It is contrasty and creates saturated looking colors. The oof rendering is interesting...there can be some onion rings and hard edges but also smoothness and very pleasing softness...still trying to figure it out.

At any rate, those are my thoughts. Here are some pictures.

I notice that Robert White in the UK describes the M mount version as "Optically the same as the E-Mount but slightly adjusted so it can be worked by both film and digital platforms ".

I wonder what that means and is there much real significance between them.

Sounds like marketing fluff. It’s M mount so it fits both film and digital Leica M bodies is probably the extent of it.
