they are about the same size as the 50mm framelines on a standard magnification leica. not too small at all! i was a bit worried they might be, but alas they are not. and sherm is right...the 21mm is very easy to see w/ room around it. using the old 21mm elmarit on it...the lens (sans shade) takes up less viewfinder than a noctilux on a leica M.

i love the matte finish, and even the R4A has the new shutter (like the R3M and R2M) with the center shutter blade in a lighter color.

That is very encouraging as being able to use a wide standard with the same camera will allow it to be a nice small kit. Just think of the R4 with the tiny 21/4, 28/3.5 and 35/2.5.

yup! i especially like it since my kit is a 21 and 35 (both of which are on the same frameline set), so i can quickly decide if i should switch lenses without having to touch a frameline preview lever!
 
My son called me at work to let me know that my R4M arrived this afternoon. Boy, it's going to seem like a long commute home tonight! My WA kit will be the CV 21/4 and the CV 35/2.5. A 25 or 28 is on my wish list.

I told my son to pick mine up at the post office Friday, he FORGOT:bang: Saturday morning first thing, off he went, got it and I am loving it.

he took off to his band practice...returned 10 minutes later he FORGOT his guitar😱 at least he is an equal opportunity forgeter🙄

I am impressed! Thank you Mr. K, Tom and Stephen. The 21mm frame is a little better than the R3A 40mm frame in terms of visibility for this eyeglass wearer. The viewfinder is very good and bright. Physically small lenses, such as the CV Skopars, will probably work best with this body as they will be the least intrusive into the 21 and 25 frames. I really like the 21 and 35 frames being grouped together. These are the two focal lengths most used by me. I was surprised by the classic black finish. The finish is not as glossy as I thought it would be. This was a pleasant surprise. It is the finish I prefer. I was also struck by the simplicity of this camera compared to the R3A - no manual shutter release lock or EV scale around the shutter speed knob. This is the first manual CV RF that I have used. The exposure meter display in the VF is clear and easy to use. In the short time I have used the R4M (I haven't finished a full roll yet) it has become my favorite. If you like Wide Angle photography, The R4 is a very good choice.

I ordered an A.

I will have mine by the end of the week if Stephen used USPS Priority as he has in the past. Maybe as soon as Tuesday on a good week.

Holiday should not matter since you just put your order in, because postal shipments doesn't stop, i've been told. Only home delivery service.
 
mike, i saw your comment and hoped the finish would be less glossy.
not that i mind glossy in itself but i wondered how that first scratch would look on it.

gb, i'm gonna remain optomistic and hope for a friday delivery. we only get 5 day, monday to friday mail service here in the big chill, no saturday delivery like you spoiled 'mericans..😉

If I hadn't looked in on this thread, I never would have discovered how weak you really are, joe! ... But I should have known, yeah. 😉

Congrats. Of all the Cosina cameras, this is the one that interests me.
