I have gotten that a few times, but it’s never made me jump and spend thousands of dollars on a summilux. Agree that it is annoying when it happens though.
I agree that you do said. Leitz Summilux represent history and the collect infilated price it's not justified just to take pictures. Then 70 cm it is a great deal to do close portrait versus only 1 meter. That's it sufficient to choose Nokton Classic.

EDIT: Full disclosure, I used Distortion +6 in LR to correct for the lens' barrel distortion.

Ring flare? I love the ring flare in the Nokton. It appears at random and I can't work it out.
Leica M9 with Voigtlander Nokton MC, taken in 2010 in Tokyo, near Tokyo Tower. The ring flare looks like a signal from the Tower beaming at the streetlight, which I thought looked like a Gundam robot.

Nate Cantrell, who was on RFF as ‘staticpix,’ shot these during the last year or so of his life. They’re not only very good but are sentimental to me because we were street shooting friends in Eugene, Oregon, because he was using the 35/1.4 on an M4 I had sold him, and because after he died of cancer, I bought the M4 with this lens from his widow. Shortly afterward I connected her with a gallery to do an overview of Nate’s work.
You can see other staticpx images by searching this lens in the Lens Browser, or search by username in the gallery.
I’ve mostly used the lens on a Leica T as a fast 50, but here are a few others on M-D 262 and M7.

Linn, M-D 262
