Voigtlander Ultron 35mm F2 Aspherical Images

Thanks Jon.

The vignetting perceived effect all depends on the subject, the colors, etc. Hard to tell from those samples ! But I'm still a bit surprised by the amount of vignetting which I can see here at f/4 and f/5.6. Shots of illumination test charts will tell later, no doubt that many will be available around quite soon.

Now that we live in the digital age with embedded or computer image processing which can fix vignetting very easily, I suspect that most lenses manufacturers will chose to produce lenses which vignette if it's an easy way out for distorsion, especially pesky moustache distorsion.

So, very recent lenses might not be such a great deal for the money if you shoot film, even if those lenses perform extremely well with digital thanks to the digital corrections applied after the light has gone through the optics...

Thank you, Mike, for those close-ups! The lens is really very good. Only a bit of flare in the last one.

Btw, I didn't see any flare in your pictures (many, many) with the Biogon 35mm f/2 in the thread of that lens.

Erik.

thank you so much for the images, Mike! Really appreciate it.

Would it be possible to show some images where the lens is mounted to both the sony and the leica?

I'm deeply impressed by the IQ but somehow I'm unsure wether I like the classic design of the lens or not.

I'm completely in love with my VM 35mm 1.2 II, the VM 35mm color skopar and the VM 75mm 2.5 Color Skopar.
But this new Ultron Asph is just so different...

or is there maybe eben a thread and I just did not see it?

A touch of vignetting is a pleasant thing, I think. These look good.

But I will have to wait for the special LTM version to come out...No M camera right now.

Erik, Predicolous, Oldwino, thank you for the kind remarks.
Erik, the flare in the last shot was because the afternoon sun was behind the subject and since she was much shorter than I am I had to lower the camera and tilt it up to get the shot thus catching some flare.
Here are a few more from the same outing.

It is hard to believe but corner sharpens on Sony FF looks to be more than acceptable in landscape photos.

So would I.

Then I could use them with my Barnack, my film M's and my digital M. That would be ideal.

Best,
-Tim
