Lots of great images here, thank you jonmanjiro and Yokosuka Mike!
I wonder how this renders compared with the LTM Ultron f1.7. That lens was beautiful.

Hi all! I just got the lens! Out of curiosity, have you guys experienced seeing the same amount of grease showing on your lens as I have? In looks rather much as it oozes out like this. To be honest, this is the first new lens I've purchased so would appreciate your feedback.

Mine was similar. They went a bit overboard with the grease at the factory. I just carefully wiped off the excess with a cotton bud (Q-tip?). It’s not doing anything useful on the inside of the mount so you may as well wipe it off.

I've seen something similar before as well. Didn't bother me, and like Jon said any excess grease I wiped off.

So would I.
Then I could use them with my Barnack, my film M's and my digital M. That would be ideal.
Look for an Ultron 35mm f/1.7 Aspherical V1. That lens is in LTM. Great performer! Small size! Black paint!

My sample is coming the next days! Will post samples from an A7 and analog M. I can compare it to the summarit 2.5 and the Cron V4.

PCR, lmk if you had the same amount of (overwhelming) grease as I had.

It should look quite familiar to many ZM lens owners...

Ultron @ f2 on Natura 1600! Really impressed with its coma control. Its right up there with the Zeiss Distagon 35mm f1.4 and far better than the Zeiss Biogon 35mm f2.

Ha! Michael came around!
On his picture some barrel distortion is visible in the extreme corners. I am nitpicking here.

Am I the only one who would like to have a way to limit focus range to 0.7m? My M3 (that couldn't be modified to focus down to 0.7m) drove me mad with loosing rf coupling with "modern" lenses.
I understand that Cosina wants to sell those lenses to folks that use them with adapters on other mirrorless cameras, but a screw to limit the travel beyond 0.7m (heck, even 0.9m when they are at it) shouldn't be that hard to do, right?

It looks like Michael still has that Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/1.4 on his M6TTL. Did you convince him to try the Ultron?
Best,

Totally agree, I kept the ZM 35 f2 over VM Ultron 35 1.7 because of this, although I do believe that optically the VM Ultron is slightly better than the f2 Biogon

Yep, excellent coma control. Vignetting is also typically less detectible in these night shots. Thanks again, Jon.
