Voigtlander VAG, anyone who use one?

BW400CN - Are you going to shoot those other 5 and develop them? I have a film pack that has partially exposed sheets, and another that has been inserted but never used. I will probably shoot the partial pack (some day maybe) and save the other so people can see what they were like. But I just wonder what has already been taken on that partial pack I have.

I want to shoot it.
After that I will convert the packfilm holder for wet plates.
I found out how these packfilms workes and I will try to get something out of it - maybe the other shots are left inside so I can develop the whole pack. So let's see what we get. I´m in the need of some cut film holder or cut film inserts - if someone wants to sell or trade one or more.

Yesterday I made a small test with the 4,5 10,5cm Skopar on the 9x12 and it looked good on the groundglas - even with the WW Focar 30 - can´t wait for a test on film!!!

I can't give up any cut film holders, but they do show up on ebay once in a while, either by themselves, or with a camera. The camera can then be resold, or if a VAG, kept for spare or parts.

If you just want to make some film inserts, I can give you the dimensions of that and any competent machinist should be able to make them for you. You could use the film inserts in a film pack holder, one shot at a time, as long as you can position it correctly so it is in fact in the film plane. Or, maybe a machinist could make the cut film holder to put the insert in as well. I never asked.

Cut film holders are on the way ;)
And another "thing"!

Zeiss Ikon enlarger unit for 9x12cm folding plate camera
by Michael Relguag, auf Flickr

Zeiss Ikon enlarger unit for 9x12 folding plate cams.
So I now will do my own prints again - never had a darkroom since 30 years but now get a period one for my Avus.

This unit was placed behind the cam without the groundglas and screwed to the wall or a repro tripod. You can use it for 9x12cm glasplates or film and any smaller size with masks.

That enlarger for 9x12 is so neat! I had never seen nor even heard of one. But it makes sense. They had them for the Graphics if no other cameras.

Glad to hear you are getting some film holders as well. That will be so much more convenient. Looking forward to seeing the results!

I´m behind a 1937 Speed Graflex - you say there was something like my Zeiss enlarger for the Graflex too?
That would be very interessting - could you show it?

The cutfilm cassettes came today and turned out to have the wrong flange size - but they had cutfilm inserts, so I could use them in my holders!!!

The cassetes/holders are 9x12 but with a small flange around and marked with Ernemann - so if someone is in the need of them let me know - maybe we can make a deal.

That is so neat! GAS is calling me.

Let us see how it works for prints. It should be fine for 8x10 prints, and maybe even larger. I guess that would depend on the brighness of the light. Have you tried it yet? Does it cover corners well?

Hey boy keep calm ;-)
I got it yesterday - have to repair the wire find a 200W bulb and get developer - stopper-fixer-paper to get started.
And I have to find a way to mount it vertikal and to transport it, because I have to enlarge in the bath where these thing shouldn´t stay all the time!

But, but, how to stay calm with such a different piece of equipment? :D :D

Well, OK, I will try to restrain myself. :p

Sounds like you do still have some challenges.

I could get a Wheel Compur Shutter with a 4,5 13,5cm Skopar which I would like to have - but the shutter has the problem that all times seems to be the same. I often hear this issue at whell Compur shutter - but is there a way to fix this trouble?

I didn't have time for a thourough search, but any or all the below may help:

Especially with you experience with the Ibsor, since that is a dial set as well. If you meant rim set, I think the first one talks about that. Let me know if any help. I remeber there was a thread on RFF a couple or three years ago with instructions on a Compur Dial Set shutter. I will see if I can find it at home. Or, with luck, maybe someone else here at RFF will remember that thread and provide the link.

Good luck.

thanks!
That seems to be not much harder as the Ibsor was.
So I maybe give that dial set Compur a try - if the price is right ;-)

Nice photos. :) Save the glass plates. They have the same thickness as the ground glass, so you can use the glass to grind your own.

If the front and rear elements are two cemented doublets they are more like the Aplanat and not a Tessar type. But 6,8 is a too large opening for an aplanat. It it has a cemented doublet in front it could be a reverse Tessar, but then it should have a singlet as the rear element, and a singlet double-concave element in the middle, so four elements in three groups.

You are right!
It has 2 front elements in 2 groups and a cemented doublet in the rear.
Did today the first shots with this cam on Wephota Ortho 25 and developed them in Adonal 1:50 for 5min.
Scans will follow later this evening.

Lenses for my Avus par Michael Relguag, bei ipernity

Bought a set of lenses today :D

Hugo Meyer & Co-Görlitz Doppel Anastigmat Veraplan 1:4,5 16,5cm
Voigtländer Anastigmat Skopar 1:4,5 13,5cm
Zeiss Ikon / Contessa Nettel Doppel Anastigmat Citonar 4,5 13,5cm
Agfa Solinear 4,5 13,5cm
all in dial-set Compur shutter.

I will keep the Skopar and maybe sell the rest of it after the parcel arrived.

BW400CN - have you gotten the lenses and had a chance to check them out yet?

Got the parcel today and just checking the shutters - two of them need a bit love (slow times are sticky) and one a complete overhaul ( all the times the same ~1/50sec)

I see an other problem - my model 1 avus has a fornt carrier for the Compur 0 - the 4,5 13,5cm lenses have a size 1 and the 4,5 16,5cm has a size 2 Compur sutter so it will be maybe impossible to mount them - but let my test it this WE.
