Voigtlander VAG, anyone who use one?

Just spotted this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Brochures..._Collectible&hash=item4611f3e8c3#ht_114wt_892

Check out the second photo of the brochure. A detachable focal plane shutter with speeds to 1/1000. Who knew? Also .75 for a film holder? I'll take 20 please. :p The lenses seem a little expensive for the day.

Voigtländer had a detachable Focal plane shutter in their program in the 20s for 6,5x9 and 9x12 - I´ve seen one by a German collector in working condition - but I think it´s nearly impossible to find one for a reasonable price!

The Compur shutters are working!
Cleaned and lubed them so they sound again like a big old cat behind the oven ;)

The one with "all times the same" was very simple.
Under the time select wheel is a curved disk which moves a pin on an arm. this arm was sticky and ain´t moving or very very slow. Cleaned it - lubed it and we are back in buissnes.

As I couldn´t use these lenses on my Avus without changeing alot I´m thinking about a cam for them.
A Mono Rail cam or a Graflex Speed Grafic.
The Mono Rail will be full shiftable in any direction but the Graflex offers a focal plane shutter which give the possibility to use lenses without a shutter. Not sure which way to go

Glad you got them all working. Good info on the repair. I'll keep that in the memory banks.

Life is kind of good when you have to make decisions on which lens to use where. :p

Nice job on getting them to fit the Voigtlander! The lenses seem to work well except for the vignetting on the two 105 lenses. Were they designed to work on 6x9's without rise/fall - shift?

Both are the 4,5 10,5cm skopar from the 6,5x9cm Avus - the tree was taken with the WW focar 30 - which gives you a focal length of 90-85mm. The castle was taken shifted to get the bottom plate out of the way ;-)
It has it´s own character at infinity but it should work perfect for close focus - that will be something for the spring, when the flowers come back.

Even so they look good except for the vignetting. Even that gives them a sort of old time look.

I sure envy you the landscapes you have where you live. Nice photos.

Thanks.
this cam is teaching me a lot and every shot is still a new experience. I tried to use the lens hood I use on the 6,5x9 Avus and it worked good - but together with the WW-Focar I get a small vignette - so I have to find a WW lenshood which fits - 29mm lens diameter.

Together with this orthochromatic film this lens delivers this look of the 20th where I´ve been searching for. This combination will stay!
Maybe this film works for the Bergehil too - hope to get it untill friday.

Did you get the Bergheil yet? I just missed a giveaway price on one last week. I'm still crying. Not that I need it or anything. I've got something like 10 9x12 and only really like to use a couple when in the mood. Both are RF, one an Avus, the other a Recomar. I really need to use them more. Those large negatives are a pleasure.

Yes the Bergheil arrived on Saturday.
Had the ushall failure with " all times the same - and was repaired in 10 min ;-)
Had no time to shoot pics from or with it - but I hope I can do some shots from her before the WE.

Beautiful looking camera and accessories! Does that also take the series VI aux lenses as well? I know the VAG does but I'm not sure about Bergheil.

Do you mean the Focar 6?
No - Focar 6 has 29mm is for the Skopar / Heliar 4,5 10,5cm and some of the smaller/darker Voigtar lenses and maybe fit on the Avus Ansatigmat 6,8 13,5cm which has 29mm too.

I was not familiar with the Focar aux lenses until you mentioned them and I googled them, but no, I was talking about Series VI, as in Series V or Series VII, and I think there was a Series VIII. Made by different manufacturers.

They are push on aux lenses or push on or screw in adapters that take Series VI aux lenses or filters. I have a tele and wide, giving probably about the equivalent of 100mm and 35mm respectively. I also have some filters and close up lenses.

Oh I see! I never used them und heard just less from this system. Maybe it is a specific US system?

The 6x9 Avus with the Skopar has a 29mm push fit and the 4,5 13,5 Skopar / Heliar have 36,8mm push fit

The Avus Anstigmat 6,8 13,5cm has 29mm too.
