W/NW At the Cemetery

Bob, great shot. You are a true documentarian. I respect the reverence that you pay to your subjects, living and not.

Anyway, Bob thanks for continuing to share, not just the great images, but the strongly empathetic stories you almost always provide as accompaniment. Maybe a picture is worth a thousand words; nevertheless, I always feel richer for your words, too. They ground the images in a time and place. This picture brought back strong memories and emotions.

Rob: thanks! I sense that my approach is quite different from most here in that I do not set out with photography as my primary goal. I go to meet people, immerse myself in different cultures, and see new things. I sometimes photograph as a part of that. Sometimes I do not photograph at all but just enjoy the cultural exploration.

Bob, just keep doing what you do. you are unique in your approach and what you share with us and that brings a lot of richness to what you offer the site. it makes me reflect on my own approach and the sense that sometimes I am "stealing" a little bit of the soul from some of my subjects by not getting to know them better first. a good breath of fresh air considering what gear & technique freaks many of can be sometimes. I like the what was the subject's name rather than what was the lens and exposure... Summicron V4 or ...?

Monkey Grave

The original stone dated from the late 1800s but was stolen in 2006. This is the replacement stone and is inscribed with the monkey's name, Mephisto.

The building I work in is next to a graveyard so I went for a wander today. Typically I spotted the picture below after running out of film so had to make do with a phone picture.:bang: This bear was positioned in the middle of a row of graves like a headstone. Quite strange.
