W/NW Cats

At the monthly contra-dance in Bowdoinham, ME, this cat is always to be seen wandering in and out of the hall during the course of the evening.

Too bad I mis-focused a bit on the first one.

Mitzi - our neighbors cat. She was staying with us for a couple of weeks when they went traveling. As all cats, she found the sunny spot and stayed there. Of course it is always were you have to walk - but you quickly learn to step over or around!

I was looking after my sisters cat while abroad,
snapped this photo on my sisters Canon rebel xsi, b&w conversion done in silver efex

Here is my cat JJ. He is a 7 year old british bombay. He is probably the nicest cat I have ever had, and behaves more like a dog. He fetches and greets you at the door. I shot this on Superia 400.

My cat Fu is now going through SQ fluid therapy to battle the kidney failure due to age. (actual age is not known as I adopted her as an adult kitty from a neglecting ex-roommate.)

She's been a real sport about it. She's relaxed and purring comfortably while I do the drip. I'm really hoping this treatment works. If it does, I think both Fu and myself are fine to do this everyday basis indefinitely, as long as she is not suffering.

Dave's comment actually encourages me that Zeke had many years of time with his humans.

I think cats are greatly under-rated - especially as to intelligence.

My cat has learned to open the sliding robe door (she loves sitting inside the robe on an upper shelf) and she has learned to open the back door to go outside.

The back door is on a spring though and it closes quickly - so she is worried it might catch her tail.Which it has done before. So she has learned to sit by the door pushing it open then allowing it to slam shut till I get the message that she wants to go out and release her. She has me trained!

In the morning if I am sleeping on my back she climbs onto my chest and sits there staring down at me till I wake up and get the message - she wants breakfast. Or more likely attention. If I ignore her she reaches down and ever so gently gives me a love bite on my naked arm. She knows that will make me laugh. Then I get up and feed her. Like I said she has trained me.

When I get out of bed (or when I get home from work in the evening) I have to give her 5 minutes of cuddles and attention otherwise she cries for about an hour. Tonkinese cats are half Siamese and are very vocal. To make sure she gets the attention she expects, she runs to a particular spot on a particular rug (one I must pass as I walk though the house) and rolls onto her back looking cute. I then stop, kneel down and rub her tummy and tell her how wonderful she is. Again she has me trained.

If I don't give her enough attention and get up to leave prematurely, she runs after me, jumps up and wraps her paws around my leg. No teeth, no claws just her little "arms" wrapped around my leg. But she knows this never fails to make me laugh and return to give her more attention. So she does it every time. Again she has me trained.

She also refuses to use her litter tray each morning till I clean it for her. She has me trained.

When the weather turns colder she sits on my lap and paws my jacket or sweater till I let her inside where its warm. There she cuddles up, starts to purr and goes to sleep................Trained!

There is no doubt who is the boss in my house. And it ain't me.

Is this the origin of the phrase "pussy whipped"?

^^very cute story, Peter. I understand; our cats have us similarly well trained :)
