W/NW: Do you Holga?

Rob, I agree with Rick's comment above.
You posted two great photos.
No way, it's the eye of the photographer that matters ...

grazie nico and rick, but I think it just a question of luck !

PS My wife would say the "model" makes the picture :)

Alright, alright, already......

After seeing all of the really cool shots here, especially by Chris and Robert, I am now about ready to take back all of the bad things I said about Holgas.

Actually, I agree with Nico- all of you guys are really good photographers with great vision. The camera really does not matter much.

Still, it is one ugly camera.......:p

We definitely agree about Holga as a very ugly camera! Anyway I'm now waiting for you to post some Holga photos ...
Ciao

When hell freezes over, Nico. When hell freezes over....

I am just giving you guys a hard time. I love all of the images here and the camera does produce nice, dreamy and even grunge photos, in the right hands.

Do any of you guys subscribe to Shots magazine? Most of the photos published in the mag are shot with toy cameras, Holgas, Dianas, and so on. I have been a subscriber for many years, but oddly, I have never had the urge to try one of these types of cameras.

You guys keep posting, because I really do enjoy checking on the thread to see the new shots.

Rick, I looked at their web page. They don't give camera details but you can tell most are not Rolleiflex or Hassy. Very interesting, I'm not subscribing to a magazine right now so maybe I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

Shots started out as a zine about 25 years ago. In the beginning, it primarily published photos from people using toy cameras, Dianas, etc. The magazine has evolved over the years and, in my opinion, has gotten much better since Russel Joslin became the publisher. It is now one of the better art photography magazines around. And it is affordable. It is published quarterly and I believe that a subscription is still just 25.00 a year. I have been a subscriber for about 20 years. The magazine relys on very little advertising for revenue, so there are just a few ads in every issue.

Give it a try, I think you will be impressed with the quality of the work. You can also find it at some Barnes and Nobles and also some Borders bookstores. However, it is much easier to get the magazine by mail, as catching it in bookstores can be a bit iffy.

Holgarama!...
The ability to control the overlap, or lack of it, of consecutive images on a film strip is Holga's strong suit. It may not be unique to Holga but is practiced witha Holga cameras more than any other. A great image siena!
