W/NW: Dogs

Christie has been ill. She was not herself, not active and started having nausea and diarrhea. A trip to her vet led to a referral for testing. Lots of tests, scans, etc. Final determination has been that she has Protein Losing Enteropathy. It's a relatively common disease among her breed--Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. That's the bad news. The good news is that she is improving. She is now on steroids (doctor says she will have to be on them from now on) and a special diet with a specified food (expensive stuff). She loves the new food which was surprising to us and the vet. She is herself again as well. She's hopping around, barking at anything she determines to be interesting and looking for treats. No more vomiting or diarrhea, thank God. We will have to slowly reduce her steroid dosage over time and continue the new diet. Doctor says she is now doing great.

Went to the vet yesterday. As usual, Christie loves everyone there but is ready to leave seconds after greeting them. "Mom, take me home!"

And the vet explains to Martha the improved lab findings and how Christie is now on the mend.

Needless to say, we are relieved. She's not cured (there's not one) but the disease is currently under control.

I'm glad Christie is doing better and will be okay!

I'm not sure what her new dietary requirements are but you might want to look at making food for her at home. My wife makes food for our dog at home—organic ingredients and everything—and it is still cheaper than high end store bought dog food. She cooks it in an instant pot so it is not a lot of trouble.

Cooking. I'm a lousy cook. I don't even try. And Martha told me over a year ago she was no longer willing to cook like she had been doing for the previous many, many years. We just had lunch. It was from Whole Foods lunch buffet. Plus a couple of bottles of wine for later enjoyment.

Christie likes the Science Diet Vet formula food so we'll stick to it.

Christie says to thank those who expressed concern about her health. 😀🐶

Good luck Christie. I'm glad you're feeling better

Step 1. Make your approach, smile, start a pleasant conversation with the dog's owner. Complement the dog. "What an adorable doggie"
Now ask permission to take the dog's picture.

Step 2. After receiving permission take the dog's picture. BTW, this handsome fellow's name is "Boss".

Nice image. It immediately made me think of the classic Star Trek episode "Trouble with Tribbles:"
