Christie has been ill. She was not herself, not active and started having nausea and diarrhea. A trip to her vet led to a referral for testing. Lots of tests, scans, etc. Final determination has been that she has Protein Losing Enteropathy. It's a relatively common disease among her breed--Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. That's the bad news. The good news is that she is improving. She is now on steroids (doctor says she will have to be on them from now on) and a special diet with a specified food (expensive stuff). She loves the new food which was surprising to us and the vet. She is herself again as well. She's hopping around, barking at anything she determines to be interesting and looking for treats. No more vomiting or diarrhea, thank God. We will have to slowly reduce her steroid dosage over time and continue the new diet. Doctor says she is now doing great.
Went to the vet yesterday. As usual, Christie loves everyone there but is ready to leave seconds after greeting them. "Mom, take me home!"

And the vet explains to Martha the improved lab findings and how Christie is now on the mend.

Needless to say, we are relieved. She's not cured (there's not one) but the disease is currently under control.
