Josh Turner, Maine chainsaw artist. He did a carved bench for us in trade for an old snowmobile I had put out for sale by the road. We got to know him quite well over the next year. The Land Rover ambulance was mine and he wanted to buy it as a mobile studio to work fairs and exhibitions with his family. After a few months of him working odd jobs for us to pay it off I decided to give it to him and asked him to just pay it forward. You can't see it in this photo, but he had a multicolored mohawk haircut, and a little dog and a young son with the same colorful mohawk.IMG_0387.jpeg

When I lived in New England, I spent a lot of time in Maine, and found it to be full of wonderful, quirky, and colorful folks (literally so, in Josh's case!). Thanks for this wonderful story, and for helping to keep Maine weird!
