I see you have a typical country "by the back door" shelf unit; filled with essential--and not so essential--stuff. Is the adze handle a spare for a tool? Or is it intended to be a defensive weapon?

keith from canada: the axe handle and eastern ironwood stick are for defense; if things were to get really thick, i have a riot 12-gauge pump available. things generally are peaceful, but a few months ago, a couple of armed home-invasion robbers were afoot and at large nearby. i was glad to have the shotgun in hand, and more glad the would-be robbers went elsewhere ...
