Brave - no roots.
Or is it an ordinary thing in and of itself - the cleanest brick wall you could find to test for distortion

Dead limb. And I corrected the distortion of the wall. Yeah...I cheated.

Clouds in the sky over a field of rice are ordinary yet they are also beautiful.

A photographer of ordinary things and an early source of inspiration for me was Wright Morris. He photographed ordinary things in their context to evoke memories of the people and character of a rural way of life that was in the process of disappearing. You would think that such an interest would not produce suspicion or controversy, but Morris' pursuit earned him a night in a southern jail.
Upon your recommendation, I've just got a used copy of this book. It's quite good indeed. Not every image resonates, but his ability to find things in the ordinary is without question and the technique is excellent. That said, there are several images in the book that are stunning.
Thanks for the tip!
