Sal, our local stringed instrument repair guy in his shop. First photo taken with then-new Leica M9 and 50mm Summilux ver 2 (pre-asph) by window light.
This shot was made in the late 1980s on a trip on the Brigantine "Eye of the Wind" around the Solomon Islands and New Guinea while visiting the tiny and remote island of Kwaiawatta in the East Milne Bay Province of NG. This fellow (who was much more pleasant than his demeanor suggested) wanted to trade his nose septum ornament with me for something exchange - I forget what. I gracefully and politely declined. He asked me to take his photo. Slide digitized with Sony NEX 7 using a Pentax SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 on a bellows outfit. Converted in Nik software to black and white.
