W/NW: Trains and Train Stations

Must dig out 5x4 neg I shot at Carnforth Station, where "Brief Encounter" exteriors were shot.
Down in the underpass where Trevor Howard & Celia Johnson kissed. Major exposure & underdevelopment to curb massive light contrast as I remember.
Old Linhof with a 90mm Super Angulon.

Here is my sister running the Hershey train that runs from Havana Cuba to Matanzas with the central point being Hershey Cuba. The American chocolate company built the town and sugar mill, along with the RR to service it in 1919, as it primary sugar source. Everything was expropriated by the Cuban government following the triumph of the Revolution in 1959. The sugar mill was shut down in 2002 leaving Hershey with almost total unemployment but the train still runs. I know many on the train crew so when we arrived for the train, they invited us to ride up front and then showed her how to operate the train. This particular unit is a "Barcelona" built in Spain in 1944 and declared obsolete and sold to Cuba in 1998. This is the newest equipment on the Hershey RR.

Doug--love that station shot! Beautiful NP remembrance--thanks!
Thanks, Paul... The big freight room is at the other end of the building. It was all in pretty sad shape as the years went by and there were attempts to arrange funds for refurbishing. Finally I think it was the roof that became a crisis point, that unaddressed would have meant accelerated deterioration of the rest. And it's worth preserving!

Dear Doug

Dear Doug

I loved your Ellensburg shot.
How I miss one of my old and favorite homes. I lived a bit more than two blocks from there in the old part of 'downtown'.
