It got here via China and was finally in service again earlier this year.

Union Pacific is the only main-line railroad in the US which never retired steam, meaning in all of their history they've always had at least one active steam engine. (That's what "they" tell me, anyway.) :)

Here's the annual Home Plate Special, inward-bound to Omaha for the College World Series.

Yeah, the third one is overexposed. With that black engine it's kinda hard not to bury the shadows and/or blow out the highlights.

If you've never seen one of these close up, the size of the wheels is totally amazing!
