W/NW: Trains and Train Stations

Because of the large midwest Amish and Mennonite populations (never sure which is which), we see many of them pass through Chicago's Union Station, always in groups like this one. I've heard some say they should be off-limits for street photography, like the homeless. I disagree and find them a rich and fascinating culture. I find myself wondering how they perceive the urban spectacle and what they must think of us big city folk.

Apopka, Florida - Jim was the first employee of the Florida Central Railroad that I met and photographed. I found him in the RR yard as he was the last to go home at the end of the day. I was able to manage this photo op up to the RR president who granted me permission to ride anywhere and photograph on this short line RR. The best part of that project was learning how to operate a diesel electric locomotive from riding around in the cab.
