This reminds me. In our main suburban station here in Melbourne, Flinders Street Station, in the subways there is the notice permanently vitrified in the wall tiles "Do Not Spit." However, in the Victorian Railways Institute, on the walls the message was "Do Not Expectorate." It did date from a more class conscious age, but one would expect the gentlemen in the office area to know not to spit.
