I know I do... picked up my E-6 6X9 transparencies today. NO Charge. Excellent processing, No problems at all.

I said that when I got my next roll back, I would post how I fill out the envelopes and deposit them in the Fuji drop box for "Send Out Only" processing.

So, here are images of 4 envelopes I have used... two for C41 and two for E6. The white label on the front shows what I was charged for the package. On the C41, I received negatives and prints. Cost was $1.80 each time. (this was all 120 roll film). Negatives were good and the prints looked good as well.

The transparencies are just that and look good under a loupe. I have not scanned any of these yet.

I see all sorts of comments about Walmart... mostly about poor service.

I avoid that by doing two things.

I would never consider Walmart for their in house processing and I never ask the store employees ANY questions. They don't know anything about this SEND OUT ONLY process, as a rule.

The only thing I ask the store employees is, "is my processing back yet". The answer is simple... either yes or no.

It takes on average 10 to 11 days to get the film back. It goes to Fuji. I believe Fuji processes the C41 and sends the E6 out. Either way, the time is about the same on return.

Here are the pics of the envelopes and a pick of how the E6 is sleeved and tubed for return.

SPECIAL NOTE... on the "no charge" today...

Envelope came back with a no charge on it. Like I said, I don't talk with the store employees, and I certainly don't raise questions. The lady at the counter said there's no charge since that's what the envelope was marked by the lab. She muttered something about there must have been something wrong with the roll. There wasn't, the processing was good. Previous E6 has been $4.88.

Exact same experience for me, a few months back now. E-6 is $4.88. I assumed at the time it was done at Fuji (Albany NY) but in the meantime I've also heard they forward all E-6 to Dwayne's. However, I was able to use the Fuji toll-free number to track my order. Turnaround was two weeks.

Forum member venchka says he gets 120 size C-41, negs only, for something like 80 cents. He's in Texas. Have not tried this but seems in line with your price for negs + prints.

Kuzano, yes the send out service from Wal-Mart is nice. I think it goes to Fuji and Dwaynes in Kansas.

The local mom and pop photo store used to carry the film to the pro shop 35 miles away, but they've gone out of business.

I guess 2 week turnaround isn't so bad.

^ I believe so, it was mentioned here a few weeks ago. I think the catch was that you'll always get mounted slides if you send 35mm E-6 through Walmart. You need to go directly to Dwayne's, and pay more, to get them back uncut.

I'd prefer to support a local camera shop or send away myself. I'm sure the service is fine and you're going to get the cheapest development but you're also shopping with a company who's employees will never make enough to afford a photographer for any occasion. Sort of shooting oneself in the foot.

Here we go again. At least it took 8 posts this time around before somebody felt the need to start the knee-jerk Walmart bashing.

Ah, that's the deal breaker there. I need them uncut. I've used Dwayne's a number of times and have been quite pleased with their services. I'd use the only local place that still does E-6, but the slides tend to come back with long horizontal scratches.

Amazing that this is still offered. I'm all for it! I'll stick with my local shops since LA seems to have banned Walmart from within reasonable driving distance of me...but if it works and you don't mind the wait, why the hell not?

It's not a knee jerk post. And I understand that folks are strapped for cash or may be out of work. I lived in a car on and off between jobs for about two years and understand the whole money situation. The fact remains that Walmart and companies like them have used unfair business practices to lie cheat and steal their way into turning ungodly profits. Shopping there is endorsing everything they do. But please, go ahead, shop your heart out, your children will thank you.
