There was a burglary in Seattle WA this week in which a ton of camera and computer gear was stolen.

Among the gear stolen was:
Leica M6 TTL 0.58 camera, #2682783
Leica Elmarit-M 1:2.8/24mm ASPH lens, #03844660

I don't know this person, just forwarding the notice from the Seattle ASMP list- I know if anyone can track down Leica gear its this group.

That's horrible. 🙁 I sure hope that his gear is found or that he had some sort of insurance to replace his stuff.

I've fallen prey to a burglary before and had some of my photo gear stolen. It's one of the worst feelings in the world! Luckily i had renters insurance which covered the camera's value.

I have had a Fort Knox Safe for years, and it gives you piece of mind. Since I live near Seattle I will keep an eye out for the stuff. A complete list and serial numbers would help. Steve.

dan, thanks for the heads up. doubtful it'll show up around here but i'll keep my eyes open. i'm always aware of leica shooters, and it is usually easy to get into a conversation. and i know, real leica shooters wouldn't want to buy hot equipment.

Warning: Stolen Gear Alert

If my own experiece is any guide, what might happen is that the current owner will cruise the bars around town with the Leica stuff and approach people with an offer to sell the stuff at, say, a couple of hundred dollars... If he's lucky, someone may come up with $25 or $50; barflies get offers all the time...Someone once offered me a pair of great German binoculars; I was tempted but didn't have the money...
