Honestly, I'm a tequila and vodka guy, my brother keeps bringing me nice brown liquor hoping I'll cave one day....
 
I could only wish for such a good brother. I love any thing brown that originated from malted barley & the like.

Tequila & voddy?......I'll pass on the tequila, but can stomach the vodka if necessary.

But if you want to talk about absolute favorites.....well, then let's talk absinthe.
 
While you guys were doing this new poll...I decided to run a test roll through a (new to me) Mamiya m645 1000s camera...Shot the roll and developed it today...waiting for it to dry for further inspection...so far it looks good...used the camera's meter...not too bad!!!
I did not vote in this one...sorry

Forgot to mention...it was a 120 roll of Kodak TMY 400...

Post some shots when you can! I'm going to guess-expose a roll of TriX through my bargain C330 this week and can't wait to see the results.
 
While dust was stirred up here, I spent my time doing other things. Thank god I did. :) But now I have to catch up and do the polls too. :)

I got the camera last Friday...It had the 80mm 1.9 and 120 back....I also picked up a 150mm 3.5 in great shape BOTH items were from ebay...
Ordered a Re-seal Kit to fix up the rear door and then picked up a lot of film holders (4)...it looks like I will be able to get a 220 and a 120 back to work out of all them.
Looking for a lens hood for the 80 and rear lens cap...
I like the feel of the 645...I also read that people thought the mirror slap was excessive...I don't get that feeling...the camera is pretty heavy and the weight helps to dampen it...
The shots I took were just things around the house...nothing too interesting just wanting to check focus and metering...I am happy with the results and looking forward to shooting with this camera and 645 format...

I also like that I can get 30 shots on a roll of 220...

I use Paterson tanks and reels...I have enough of them so that finding dry reel isn't a problem...They must be completely dry when loading any amount or type of film....and yes I can get a roll of 220 loaded on a reel...

At first I was looking at the 110mm then figured it was too close to the 80...I saw some pictures taken with a 150 and really liked it...
Divide 150 by 1.6 and you get the equivalent for 35mm format...
80mm = 50mm
110mm = 68mm
120mm = 75mm
150mm = 93mm
210mm = 131mm

You can take decent portraits with the 80 but you can back off a bit from the subject and blowout the background with the 150...

I looked at the Mamiya and Pentax but don't know why I didn't look at the Bronica...does it have a shutter in the body or is it in the lens???

I can't wait to run a roll of Neopan 100 through it...

Nikon Sam, I have the ETRSi and all shutters are leaf shutters in the lens.Seems a little contradictory since you still have the mirror slap to deal with; but it is also obviously heavier. The optional hand grip is very handy to change the hadnling of the camera, however. Unfortuantely, I have to take it off to put it in my Pelican case. The lenses are very nice & are probably some of the most affordable in MF right now.
 
Ive found that a used toothbrush and toothpaste works but can damage the reels with repeated attempts, reels are pretty cheap second user and some have never been used much.

Explain something to me...Leaf shutter in the lens...right???
You have to close the lens (shutter) and then fire...OR...(and this is where I get lost) do you get to see the shot right up to shooting it???
I hear that with the Mamiya there are a few lenses with leaf shutters...you set the focal-plane shutter at 1/8 sec then shoot with leaf shutter BUT there is still a brief moment of NO image...right???

Ha....weird how I never thought about the logistics behind this.

I just know from what I read about the cameras before buying and since buying that they do have the shutter in the lens body. I also have my recollection of last having the camera broken down into individual pieces that the body has nothing more than a focus screen and reflex mirror- well there's also other sundry controls that aren't relevant to this topic.

My best guess as to how it works is that at the moment that the mirror raises, the shutter closes & reopens at the proper speed.

This much I can say is that through the eye level prism you see what you're shooting right until pressing the shutter button. The difference from 35 slr is that the mirror stays up (i.e.- you can't see anything through the vf) until you wind the film & cock the mechanism again.

To make matter perhaps a little more confusing, the ETRSi version has mirror lock-up also.

At the time of shutter release, The shutter closes, opens for the right time then closes again. It stays closed until it's rewound.
