Expecting heavy snow in Nieuw Amsterdam for the next two days. May offer some interesting scenes. Been cold, overcast and depressing. No indoor restaurant dining, too cold to eat outdoors (23 Fahrenheit at this writing) and many restaurants, shops are shuttered. On the bright side, the political class hasn’t a clue what they’ll do next. They do quarrel a lot and say foolish or patently false things, which makes for a laugh now and again.

I'm helping to remodel our local Arts Council, and spent part of yesterday and today painting. I did find time to take a short walk around my small town and take a few pics with my M3 loaded with Ferrania P30.

Too damn cold to go outside this weekend, so I'll stay inside and, maybe, take apart an old Perfex 55 camera I have to see how it works.

The weather is on the cool side, but it is not cold. We see sunshine less frequently these days.
I may take some photos locally.

Two days after Tet or Lunar New Year, Saigon will be in a dormant state. A good time to explore the city without worries to be run over by trucks and or buses. Cheers, OtL

With COVID19 around us, not many outdoor activities can be done safely.

Cold, dreary and more snow on the way. Maybe I’ll take shots of my dog sleeping. She’s a professional napper and I respect her for that.

We may have a wonderful weekend! It will be close to 32F but with sunshine and blue sky. It is winter, after all.
What are your plans for the weekend? I hope that you will do anything at all. I must remind myself to get anything done too!

There's a phenomena known as "blue ice' that appears at the Straits of Mackinac during certain winters. I hear that this year it's pretty good. An hour drive away. Maybe we'll drive up tomorrow afternoon or on Sunday. I'll take the M240.

Shooter of Film...
I was testing a new to me Nikkormat FT3 with the 50mm 2.0 Ai lens...shot a roll of expired Plus-X, developed the film last night and today set up the darkroom to make a few prints...tomorrow I might go out and do some more shooting or head to a camera store to pick up some more paper developer...
I can see why people like this lens...

It wasn't the weekend but when one is happily retired everyday is a weekend.
Today my wife and I went to a small art theater in Yokohama to watch the 90 minute long movie/documentary:
"Three Tenors: Voices For Eternity – 30th Anniversary Event"
Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras and Plácido Domingo
I was blown away! Goose bumps, tears, laughter... the best thing I've seen and heard in a very, very long time. A movie theater is the only way to see and hear this film (in my opinion).
* Note - the theater follows strict anti-virus protocols, masks, sanitizing, distancing... everything.
All the best,
Mike

You're brave, Mike. When I retired a year ago I planned to go to a matinee once a week. Haven't been to the movies since, and no way would I sit in a theater now. But I just got my first shot, and after the next one, you'll see me down front, munching popcorn, enjoying my weekday afternoon film.

I decided not to retire at this time. One day I will be able to do so, hopefully.
I have watched on TV parts of:
"Three Tenors: Voices For Eternity – 30th Anniversary Event"
Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras and Plácido Domingo
Awesome talents.

This weekend, the plan is to get out of the house and shoot some pics downtown with the Epson and a wide-angle lens. The authorities put-out high UV level warnings and so I'll have to cove-up. Cheers, OtL

Taking my Contax I(f) and (e) etc. out for some test shots...Here in Scottsboro, Alabama it may be rainy weather but that is ok...I used to fly in this all the time...at night even...low over the water even...outside the U.S. even so why not take some pictures. This area of the U.S. happens to have one of the largest "karst hydrogeologic" formations in the world..supplying huge amounts of fresh water....just under the ground. Just cannot understand why my water bill is so high! Maybe I will get a picture of a fresh water Bass the area is famous for.
on my dinner plate!

Contax I Getting Sporty
Contax I Getting Sporty
This weekend will be using mostly Contax I (f) I got in from Belgium a month or so back. It came with a beautiful hard leather case. The prior owner must have loved this camera s its leather case and its condition are "fine". The only problem was the lubricant becoming an impediment to the shutter operation. Only after learning enough about the layout of the escapements was I brave enough to apply some fresh lubricant to get things moving a little. The silk "straps" made me fearful to wind and it took me several timid days with a good magnifying glass to even find out about "groups" and "sports". [Evenafter reading the "owners manual" I had no idea about there being engravings on the winding knob or that a pin, one pin, had to be positioned. One thing I did know after re-straping" a Contax II was that less that less than 0.5mm determined whether the fastest and likely the easiest [on the camera straps and escapments] speed could be set and used.
Thanks to RFF for providing information to help me out.
